The first painting in the dissonance series of pieces depicting the self-destructive and counter productive nature of the pursuit of perfection. In this first painting there is a model deteriating under the pressure of becoming closer to the idealization of the feminine form.
The arm representing the loss of control over actions. The chest being the loss of emotion. The head being the loss of the sense of self.
These elements coming together to represent the attritive nature of the pursuit of physical perfection through acts that ultimately make it impossible to achieve it.
Done on 24 x 36" canvas in oils over about a week of on and off painting for my painting class.
A deteriorating feeling of self and control, in the pursuit of idealizations. That makes me think there is no reason for pursuit of....ideals and that is sad, to me. I love the painting and see a richness that does not cooperate with your stated intent. I cant state that in a sentence but I can see it, the hope, confusion and the history of a persons life but those dont do your painting justice. Only the vision really communicates it well. Thank you for sharing and the technical skill, artistic esthetics are wonderful.
